Recycling Changes

Las Cruces – The City of Las Cruces is making some major changes to its recycling program.

Starting January 15th .city residents are asked to take their yard waste to the old Foothills Landfill off Lohman Avenue and Sonoma Ranch Boulevard.

The Foothills Landfill is open Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am - 3:00pm.

The Recycling Center on Amador, will no longer accept yard waste as of February 28th.

DACC Prepares Workers of Tomorrow

With that in mind, Dona Ana Community College spent years developing its new workforce training center, which just recently opened As KRWG-TV's Gary Worth reports, the project is already paying off, preparing local workers for jobs of the future, and making sure high school students don't drop out.

No Balloon Rally this Year

El Paso Mayor Vetoes Call for Discussing Federal Legalization of Narcotics

Las Cruces, NM – Mayor of the West Texas border city of El Paso, John Cook vetoed a City Council resolution Tuesday, which called for the federal government to have an "honest debate" about the legalization of narcotics. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, the resolution was drafted in response to the more than 1600 murders last year in El Paso's sister city, Juarez.

Las Cruces, NM – Today the newly elected members of New Mexico's Congressional Delegation were sworn into office in Washington D.C. This marks the first time since New Mexico added a third Congressional District that all of the members of the state's delegation are Democrats. City Council makes Changes to Red Light and Speed Enforcement Camera Program

Las Cruces, NM – The Las Cruces City Council voted unanimously Monday to repeal the existing city ordinance which initiated the red light camera program and replace it with a new ordinance. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, the red light and speed enforcement cameras are still coming to at least four intersections in Las Cruces, but with some minor changes.

Multiple Car Accident on I- 25

Las Cruces, NM – A multiple car accident near the Lohman exit on Interstate 25 is affecting both north and southbound traffic. New Mexico Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Bridgette Spedialeri says the accident caused one vehicle to lose control and roll over. Las Cruces motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

City to Initiate Red Light Camera Enforcement in February

Las Cruces, NM – Red light and speed enforcement cameras will be installed this month at four intersections within Las Cruces. The City Council voted for the program unanimously back in September. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, City Manager Terrence Moore says the camera enforcement at these intersections will start in February.
